Albuquerque, NM — Max Ramirez hit two three-run home runs, including one to cap off a decisive five-run eighth inning rally, to propelled Omaha to a 12-10 win over Albuquerque Monday.
The Storm Chasers put up two five-run frames to earn a series split and improve to 9-3.
Wilfredo Ledezma took over on the mound for the Isotopes in the eighth and retired the first two hitters before Tony Abreu doubled and scored on a Clint Robinson single to tie the score at eight.
David Lough followed with a double to score Robinson and put the Chasers in front to stay. Ramirez stepped up next and launched his insurance blast to right field to finish the rally.
Johnny Giavotella’s solo blast, his second long ball of the season, got the Storm Chasers on the board just two batters into the first inning and Lough’s first homer of the season, another solo shot, increased the margin to 2-0 in the second.
Albuquerque rallied for four in the third on consecutive run-scoring triples by Matt Angle and Elian Herrera, a wild pitch and the first Triple-A home run for Alex Castellanos.
Omaha starter Vin Mazzaro lasted four innings and was charged with eight runs on nine hits while walking one and fanning three. Jeremy Jeffress took over and settled things down with three shutout innings during which he allowed one hit to earn his second win of the season.
Omaha opens a four-game series Tuesday at 6:45 pm in Round Rock with right-hander Nate Adcock facing Express right-hander Neil Ramirez.
