Thursday night, Omaha bicycle commuters will celebrate riding 352,130 miles over the course of five months as part of the Bicycle Commuter Challenge.
“Between the bike lanes, new trails, and bike racks on every public transportation bus, there's no doubt Omaha is quickly becoming a bicycle friendly city,” said Julie Harris of Activate Omaha, who organized the challenge, in a press release.
777 cyclists, making up 108 teams, participated in the national challenge's sixth year, ranking Omaha 16th for cities and Nebraska third as a state.
Mojo's Smokehouse & Ales in Askarben Village will host tonight's celebratory event, which takes place form 5 to 8 p.m.
The winter bike challenge will kick off in November. Click here for more information.
