24-hour kickboxing session aims to punch out hunger

Six gyms in the Omaha area are hoping to kick hunger's butt this December.

Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping is teaming up with Open Door Mission to collect food and monetary donations at the 2nd Annual Kick-a-Thon.

Students of the gym will kick box for 24 hours, in 60 minutes intervals, at the 76th and Dodge Streets location starting at 5:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7.

People can drop off donations at any of the gym's six Omaha locations starting now through the end of the event.

DeVetter Fitness, near W. Center Road and 168th Street, is also collecting toys for Open Door Mission on November 23.

Anyone who donates a toy will receive a free “Turkey Buster Workout,” one of the gym's training sessions.

People wanting to donate and participate in the workout must RSVP by calling 402-301-8657 or visiting turkeybuster.viprespond.com.
